SECOND AND THIRD YEAR IN COLLEGE Choosing a Major: By the time you enter into your second and third year of college, you should have an idea of the degree program you want to pursue. Many colleges will insist that you declare a major by your third year. You can change it later one, but this may require that you take additional classes which may postpone your graduation date. If you have not decided on a major, here are some suggestions that may help: Write down your interests, Look at classes you have already taken, Talk with advisors. By thinking about areas you are interested in and might want to pursue as a career will help you narrow down which major to choose. If you have many interests that share a similar theme, you may be able to find a major. Many times, students have to take different classes before deciding on a major. This is why colleges give students two years to decide.
